His wife Mary (age 27) reported that she was born in Mississippi and listed her occupation as Keeping House. The children in the household (in addition to Candice, age 1) were Mary E., age 6, Benjamin W., age 5, Clara, age 4, and Willet, age 3. There was also a cousin Wesley Meeks age 22 living with the family who listed his occupation as a Farmer. Wesley reported that he was born in Mississippi, his father was born in Alabama and his mother was born in Georgia.
Candace listed the year of her birth as 1880 on her application for a Social Security Number, but the 1880 Census stated that she was 1 year old in 1880.

Candace married William Enoch WARD, son of William Jacob "Jake" WARD and Bettie Elizabeth LEGGETT, on 13 Jan 1903 in Mississippi. (William Enoch WARD was born in 1866 in Mississippi and was buried in Garlandville, Newton, Mississippi, USA.)
