1. Obituary. Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal VARDAMAN - Joe Ben Mooneyham, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Grenada Lake Medical Center. He was born June 10, 1917, in Calhoun County. He was a retired, self-employed farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City with Dr. Clarence Cooper and the Rev. Sherman Adams officiating. Burial will be in Elzey Cemetery in Vardaman. Survivors include three sons, Joe E. Mooneyham of Holcomb, Carl Ray Mooneyham of Calhoun City and Jimmy C. Mooneyham of Vardaman; four stepdaughters, Shirley Fowler of Tacoma, Wash., Judye Butler of Talbott, Tenn., Johnnie Nelson of Marrero, La., and Bettie Waring of Calhoun City; two sisters, Lesteen Clark of Houston and Opal Huffman of Calhoun City; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Ellis Mooneyham and Esther Elizabeth Bryant Mooneyham; four sisters, Mary Jureski, Flora Dye, L.M. Cleveland and Estelle Weldon; and four brothers, Charlie, Macon, Jessie Ray and Q.T. Mooneyham. Pallbearers will be Joe Weldon, Pete Weldon, Jim Dugard, Don Dugard, Ronnie Hand and Mark Mooneyham. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
