MOONEYHAM, John Cain

1. Occupation: Farmer/laborer. 2. Census: Mississippi 1805-1890 Census, MS 1860 Federal Population, Mississippi. John C. appears in the 1860 Mississippi Census in the township of Cherry, Calhoun County, Mississippi. 3. Military Service. Served in the Confederate Army (1862) 9th Regiment MS Calvary 4. miscellaneous notes. In October 1881, John Cain purchased 160 acres of land in Chickasaw County, located west of Thorn on Mud Creek. John Cain and Sarah lived on the farm until her death. After her death, he married Adaline Stringfellow. The family said that he slept out in the barn with the cows because he said "he wouldn't live with no durn woman that made him wash his face before coming to the table." John married Nancy Ann BROWN on 24 Dec 1848 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Nancy Ann BROWN died on 13 May 1851 in Chickasaw County , MS.) John next married Sarah Elizabeth MALONE, daughter of Allen MALONE and Unknown, in 1852. (Sarah Elizabeth MALONE was born in 1835 in Georgia and died in 1886 in Calhoun County, Mississippi.) John next married Adaline STRINGFELLOW. |
